We ourselves feel that what we are doing is just a drop in the ocean.
But the ocean would be less because of that missing drop. -- Mother Teresa

California Dreamin'

So I'm slacking already on the blog writing! Oh no! In my defense, I have been so busy with work that by the time I am home I just want to relax and do mindless things. :) And believe it or not, SOME thought does go into my blog-writing. We will be getting our NGSB blog off the ground in about two weeks, so I'll expect my devoted followers on here to give the blog I'm getting paid to write some attention!

Well folks the Mississippi girl finally spread her wings and got off the ground. I went on my first work trip to San Francisco last week. It was also my first time on an airplane. Needless to say I had some butterflies, but it was fine. I loved it.

Saw some pretty cool sites while in Cali. Of course I loved driving through Wine Country, we toured Sterling Vineyards and I bought a bottle of their Malvasia Bianca. I'm saving it for the perfect special occasion.

I loved this unique little store in St. Helena where I found the perfect addition to my owl collection. Baksheesh had all these hand made items from around the world.

I also loved Sandy's Unique Boutique in Lafayette. Yes, even California has a Lafayette, sheesh. But it was somewhat like digging through my grandma's closet, except the lady promised me everything in the store was brand new. I think she thought that's what I wanted to hear, but really I love second hand stuff. I love wearing jewelry that has a history.

I promise this really was a work trip. We just squeezed in some touristy things in the down time between meetings and visits with vendors and venues.

We did take a lovely drive down to Monterey, though, and did the 17 mile drive from Pacific Grove to Carmel. It was breathtaking, literally, it was so cold! But even through the clouds and drizzly rain, I was constantly blown away by Mother Nature's beauty.

My cohort wasn't always as eager to hop out of the car to see the sites as I was. So yes even though I can be quite vain and take pics of myself, these were not by choice! hehe

I've ventured out even further into the "grown up" world and have begun house hunting. I've decided to forgo renting and just take my time, save some money, and get on the road to being a homeowner. I'm looking for a place that could embrace my vintage eclectic style with classic Southern charm. We know I don't like matchy-matchy stuff but I want everything to just sort of "go". I've been finding beautiful light fixtures in my online search for homes. Can't I just take the parts I like of all of them and make my own. Oh and put it right on the beach! HA!

Any tips for a first time home buyer are always welcome.

Peace. smh
